Work out what you actually keep

Run the numbers on a listing before you price it, and keep a dated record of what you worked out and why.

A marketplace fee schedule is published in one place, changed without notice, and applied to a total that often includes the shipping you charged — which is why sellers routinely price a listing on a number that stopped being true months ago. These calculators show the working line by line rather than just the answer, print the date the fee schedule behind them was last checked against its source, and keep a dated record of what you worked out so a price you set in March still has its reasoning attached in September.
