Amazon FBA Fee Calculator
Work out Amazon US referral and FBA fulfillment fees from your price, box size and weight, then see the size tier, net proceeds and profit margin.
Packed dimensions and packed weight — Amazon measures the box it ships, not the product inside it. The order you type the three sides in does not matter.

Saved FBA calculations
Every calculation you keep, with room for a note about which product or shipment it was for.
Type your sale price, your product cost and the packed box, and the calculator prints what Amazon takes and what is left. Every figure is worked out in your browser against a fee table checked against Amazon's own published rates — the date it was checked is printed under the result, with a link to the source.
These are United States marketplace figures. Amazon runs a different fee schedule in every country it sells in, and a UK or German seller reading this page will get numbers that do not apply to them.
Amazon referral fee calculator: what Amazon takes off the top
The referral fee is a straight percentage of the price the customer pays, including any shipping you charge, and it is set by the product category rather than by anything about your listing. Most categories sit at 15%. Consumer Electronics and Computers are 8%. Three categories switch rate at a price threshold — Beauty and Baby Products charge 8% up to $10.00 and 15% above it, Grocery charges 8% up to $15.00 and 15% above it — and the rate that wins applies to the whole price rather than only to the part above the threshold. That makes the pricing decision around those thresholds sharper than it looks: an $10.01 beauty product pays 15% of the full $10.01, not 8% of ten dollars plus fifteen cents of the rest. Underneath all of it sits a $0.30 minimum, which is what actually gets charged on anything under about two dollars.
FBA size tier checker: small standard-size against large standard-size
The size tier is the part of an FBA quote worth checking first, because it is decided by four measurements you probably typed from memory and it is worth around a dollar a unit. Sort the packed dimensions longest to shortest. Small standard-size is up to 15 by 12 by 0.75 inches and 16 ounces. Large standard-size is up to 18 by 14 by 8 inches and 20 pounds. Exceeding any one limit moves you up a tier, and the calculator names the limit that did it rather than only the tier, so a surprising result points at the measurement to re-check.
The limits are inclusive, and the edges are real. A box measured at exactly 15 by 12 by 0.75 inches weighing exactly 16 ounces is still small standard-size; add a tenth of an inch to any side and the same product costs about a dollar more per unit to fulfil. If your packaging is close to an edge, the cheapest change available to you is often a thinner mailer rather than a cheaper supplier.
FBA fulfillment fee calculator: reading the weight band
The fulfillment fee is a flat per-unit amount read off a table of weight bands. Small standard-size runs in 2 ounce steps from $3.32 to $3.96. Large standard-size runs in 4 ounce steps below a pound, then quarter-pound steps to 3 pounds, then adds eight cents for every further quarter pound up to the 20 pound ceiling. Amazon adds a fuel and inflation surcharge on top, which the calculator shows as its own line so the two are not confused.
Two things change which row you land on. Items priced under $10.00 use Amazon's cheaper Low-Price FBA rates, and the switch is exact rather than gradual. And large standard-size items are billed on the greater of unit weight and dimensional weight, where dimensional weight is the box volume divided by 139 — so a light product in a generous box is charged for the air. Small standard-size ignores dimensional weight completely, which is one more reason to care about whether a package fits inside it.
Amazon seller profit margin calculator: what is actually left
Net proceeds is the sale price minus both fees. Subtract what the unit cost you to buy or make, and what remains is the profit this page reports, expressed as a percentage of the sale price. That margin is the number to compare across products, because a fee that looks small on a $60 item is punishing on a $12 one: the fulfillment fee barely moves with price, so the same physical product at half the price keeps far less than half the margin.
Treat the result as a floor rather than a full picture. Monthly storage, inbound placement, returns processing, removals and advertising all come out of the same margin and none of them are in this table, along with the $39.99 monthly Professional selling plan. If a product only clears its costs on the figures here, it is not clearing them in reality.
Questions
- How much does Amazon FBA cost per unit?
- Two fees land on almost every FBA sale. The referral fee is a percentage of the sale price set by your product category — 15% across most categories, 8% in Consumer Electronics and Computers, with a $0.30 minimum on any item. The FBA fulfillment fee is a flat amount per unit decided by the size tier and the shipping weight, and it is the one people underestimate: a one-pound large standard-size item costs $5.04 to fulfil before the fuel and inflation surcharge, which is more than the referral fee on a $30 product. On top of those sit costs this calculator does not cover, including monthly storage, inbound placement, returns processing and advertising.
- What size tier is my product in?
- Sort your packed dimensions longest to shortest and compare them against the limits. Small standard-size is anything up to 15 by 12 by 0.75 inches weighing 16 ounces or less. Large standard-size runs up to 18 by 14 by 8 inches and 20 pounds. Cross any single limit and you are in the next tier up — a box that is a tenth of an inch too thick moves from small standard-size to large standard-size and gains about a dollar a unit. The calculator prints the tier and the specific limit that decided it, so you can check the measurement that mattered rather than all four.
- Why is my FBA fee higher than my product's weight suggests?
- Large standard-size items are billed on the greater of unit weight and dimensional weight, and dimensional weight is length times width times height divided by 139. A pillow weighing eight ounces in an 18 by 14 by 8 inch box has a dimensional weight of 14.5 pounds, and Amazon charges the 14.5 pound rate. Small standard-size is the exception — it ignores dimensional weight entirely and reads unit weight only. If your fee looks wrong for the weight, compare the two figures the size tier panel prints; the larger one is what you are being charged on.
- Does Amazon charge lower FBA fees on cheap items?
- Yes. Items priced under $10.00 are fulfilled on Amazon's Low-Price FBA schedule, which runs roughly 60 to 90 cents cheaper per unit than the standard rates. The boundary is exact and it is not a rounding: a $9.99 small standard-size item at two ounces costs $2.43 to fulfil and the same item at $10.00 costs $3.32. The calculator switches tables automatically and says which one it used, because pricing an item at $9.99 rather than $10.00 can be worth more than the penny it costs you.
- What fees does this calculator not include?
- Monthly and long-term storage, inbound placement, returns processing, removals and disposal, advertising, and the $39.99 Professional selling plan subscription. It also excludes Clothing and Accessories, which is fulfilled on a separate and higher apparel rate card, and every oversize tier — where a package falls outside small or large standard-size the fulfillment figure is left blank rather than guessed. Treat the result as the per-unit floor on what Amazon takes, not the whole cost of doing business there.
- How current are these Amazon fee figures?
- The date they were last checked is printed under the result, next to a link to the Amazon page they came from. Referral percentages come from Amazon's published selling fee schedule; the fulfillment figures were read out of Amazon's own public Revenue Calculator band by band, because the full FBA fee table is behind a Seller Central login. Amazon revises both on roughly annual cycles, so check the date before pricing a shipment, and open the source link if it is more than a few months old.
